APPROACH

Public transport
The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art is a ten minute walk from St Peter’s Metro station with Metro access to all parts of Tyne & Wear. Sunderland City Railway and Metro station is one stop along from St Peter’s, with rail connections to the national and local rail network. Sunderland station is 25 minutes by rail or Metro from Newcastle Central.
Direct trains to Sunderland can be booked directly at Northern Rail.

Car
The National Glass Centre car park situated to the front of the building is FREE to all visitors and accessible from Dame Dorothy Street.

Cycling
Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art is part of the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route from Cumbria to Sunderland.

Access for people with assistance needs
We have eight parking spaces for blue badge holders which are free of charge. There is also a drop off point near to the main entrance. We have disabled toilet facilities and a lift to all levels levels of the Centre. We have free manual wheelchair hire facilities, available on request at the Visitor Services desk. We offer these on a first come, first served basis.

We welcome guide dogs and our Visitor Services team are fully trained in customer care so please ask us for any assistance required. We are happy to contact you by phone on O44 272 15 15, in case you should have difficulties.
